Beginning the Editing Process!

To edit my music video, I have decided to use Premiere Pro. This is the editing software that we have access to at school and is also very highly rated. My other option was Imovie, an Apple mac program which I have on my Mac, however I definitely feel that Premiere Pro is much more accessible and in depth.

I have now filmed as much footage as I need, my next job is to Edit, Edit, Edit! Firstly I had to upload all the footage onto the computer. This took AGES! Half an hour later, I began to review my footage In Premiere and began to cut small pieces of footage up into the music video!

I will continue Editing after half term!

Final Shoot!

Outcome
FILMING FINISHED! After this last brief session of filming, I have finally finished. The actual shoot went well as the basic styled shots I wanted to do allowed us to quickly finish the filming. The shots I had in mind were all completed such as head to toe pans, and links to the lyrics such as eye closeups.

Things went well

  • The way I lighted the frame I particularly loved. It gave the light either side of George which backlighted him slightly which worked really well!

Things to improve
  • Again, Slightly more direction in what I wanted could of helped, however it did work well anyway!

The lighting set up
The slightly interesting lighting arrangement!
One of the light
The reflector again!
The way the lighting effect looked with George!

Fifth shoot preparation

Friday 21st October
9.00am-9.40am (After School session) (40 Minutes)

Description:
This shoot is aimed at filming George. The shots don't have to be very long, I just need several pans of George as the male character to which she is referring to.

Location:
For this shoot, my location is going to be in our school Photography studio like the first shoot of Alice. This has no specific meaning, it just has good lighting and a good plain backdrop.

Pre-Preparation:
The lighting has all been set up again in a slightly different way, however still giving the desired effect of no shadows! The three point lighting is a technique that i have used again.
People Needed:
For this shoot, I need George, and obviously myself to film George miming/acting.

Physical Resources Needed:
•Video Camera- For actually filming the scene in which Alice is going to act out for me.
•Digital Camera (Photographs)- This is for mainly evidence, but I am also going to photograph for my magazine article and Digipak.
•Iphone- This is to Play the music for Alice to mime to primarily, but the device is also very useful as it is easy to jump to parts of the song.
Costume Needed:
I'm not too bothered about what George is wearing as it won't matter to much as his feature is only going to be short.
Outcome:
After this shoot, I would like to have completely finished filming! Obviously I will have to review all of the footage to see if it is all high enough quality, but providing it is, I should be okay to start Editing!

Fourth Shoot

Outcome
Todays shoot went very well! As this is the last shoot with Alice, we were both very clued up on what to do, and the whole filming session went very smoothly. we Began with some reflection dancing with the large mirrors and then some windowsill which I felt were working very well!

Things went well
  • I love the windowsill scenes, especially playing with focus and almost creating a Bokeh effect!
  • The setting also did turn out to be perfect for the style I was aiming for, even if it wasn't planned!
Things to improve
  • Some more preparation for actual dance moves was a problem again, but just ment it took slightly more time.

Preparing for Shoot 4

Thursday 19th October
11.10pm-12.00pm (Free Period) (50 Minutes)

Description:
After the last mix up of locations, it was time to put it right by filming the last scene (the dance studio) with the sparkly dress. Although this was the scene I was now worried about due to the sudden change of plan, I do actually think it looks quite effective. I am also aware that I still need to film george however that isn't worrying as George has confirmed he definitely will be able to film on friday!

Location:
For this shoot, my location is going to be in our school dance studio. The dance studio is the last scene i need to film Alice in before i have my four scenes of Alice in different costume!
Pre-Preparation:
before filming this scene, I made sure that the studio was definitely available by booking ages in advance. This gave me no worries when coming to film as it will be free for us to use.
People Needed:
Again, the only people needed for this shoot is going to be Me,To film and direct the shoot, and Alice, to Act and mime within the music video. Although an extra person for helping with general parts could help more, the resource was not available, however this shouldn't affect the running of the shoot.

 •Sparkly Dress
 •Bangles
 •Gold Necklace
 •Hooped Earrings
Outcome:
After this shoot, I would expect that I have fully filmed Alice in this location to the maximum potential. This will include solid footage and some shorter clips of Alice!

Shoot 3!

Outcome
Today, Alice and I planned to film my Dance studio scene with Alice dancing to a choreographed styled dance. The actual filming went very well however we had a major problem with the location as the location we had chosen was already in use when we came to film there! However, the Show must go on, and I decided to re-arrange my scenes. The last two scenes I had to film with Alice were the Dance studio, and the Drama studio. This gave me the idea of going to the Drama studio to see if it was free. It was free, however we did not bring the right outfit for Alice to wear in that scene. As time was running out, I changed my mind to set the Dance scene in the Drama studio. Although at first I wasn't happy with the set up, after reviewing the style I was aiming for (Grungy, slightly 'Gangster' look), the drama studio definitely reenforced this!

Things went well
  • The actual filming went very well and I hope I have filmed some good footage to include in my video.
  • The setting also did turn out to be perfect for the style I was aiming for, even if it wasn't planned!
Things to improve
  • The initial booking of the dance studio definitely needed to be done as this was my first problem I encountered.
  • The planning of the dance moves could of done with some more work before the actual shoot.

As we were already behind in filming because we decided to change scene, I didn't manage to get any photographs for possible Digipak covers, however here is a few screen shots of Alice in the Drama studio from footage I filmed!

Although I also planned to film George today, He was unavailable. This did not matter to much as I can film him on friday for the same period of time!

Preparation for shoot 3

Wednesday 19th October
3.20pm-4.10pm (After School session) (50 Minutes)

Description:
For this shoot, I plan to complete the 'Dance routine/Dance studio' scene. I would like to film Alice dancing in the studio which will feature in my music video introduction. The scene required the baggy hoodie and harem pants (Inspired by Ciara). I would like to plan as much of the dance before filming as possible as well as ensuring the location is to be available.

Location:
For this shoot, my location is going to be in our school dance studio.

Pre-Preparation:
before filming this scene, Alice and I spent some time looking over Ciara's Dance choreography and styling it similarly to our dance moves. Although they are not exactly the same, it still gave us some very good ideas of what to include. As for the location, we are filming after school so the studio should be empty.
People Needed:
Again, the only people needed for this shoot is going to be Me,To film and direct the shoot, and Alice, to Act and mime within the music video. Although an extra person for helping with general parts could help more, the resource was not available, however this shouldn't affect the running of the shoot.

 •Baggy Hoodie
 •Harem Pants
 •Gold Necklace
 •Hooped Earrings
Outcome:
After this shoot, I plan to have thoroughly explored the scene and fully filmed the scene to the maximum potential with a various amount of shots. I again haven't set myself an actual target for how much footage I hope to gain, however the 50 minute session with preparation before the shoot should allow us a good amount of time to film good quality footage.
